KCB Bank Uganda has unveiled the 2026 edition of the Kyambogo Ultra Run, reinforcing its commitment to promoting fitness, community engagement and inclusivity. The race, scheduled for May 2 at the Kyambogo University Cricket Oval Grounds, is expected to attract both elite and amateur runners.
Established in 2010, the Kyambogo Ultra Run has grown from a local endurance challenge into a key preparatory platform for athletes aiming to compete in the globally renowned Comrades Marathon in South Africa. Over the years, it has become one of Uganda’s leading ultra-endurance events.
This year’s edition carries a strong social message, with organisers dedicating the run to raising awareness and support for students with disabilities at Kyambogo University. The initiative seeks to spotlight accessibility challenges and promote a more inclusive campus environment.
KCB Bank Uganda, which has partnered with the event since 2024, has committed Shs150 million towards this year’s run. Managing Director Edgar Byamah said the bank aims to build healthier and more connected communities through such initiatives.
“At a time when many people are becoming less physically active, platforms like the Kyambogo Ultra Run are vital in promoting healthier lifestyles and bringing communities together,” Byamah said, noting that participants can register through the bank’s digital platform, KCB Pay.
Kyambogo Ultra Run CEO Julius Nkuraija welcomed the continued support, saying the partnership has helped grow the event into a platform that fosters discipline, resilience and personal growth.
The 2026 edition will feature 50km, 25km and 10km race categories, with the first wave expected to flag off at 6:00am. Organisers say the event will continue to serve as both a competitive platform and a driver of social impact.
