Mitoma District’s Susan Kyokusiima, a farmer and bar owner, has won UGX 50 million as the grand prize in Uganda Breweries Limited’s (UBL) Laga Swagga campaign.
Kyokusiima emerged as the top winner in the three-month-long national campaign, which rewarded thousands of Ugandans with prizes ranging from cash to airtime and other exciting giveaways.
Overwhelmed with joy at the prize-giving ceremony, Kyokusiima shared that she initially joined the campaign to win airtime, not expecting to walk away with the grand prize. “I saw my customers participating in the Laga Swagga campaign and asked them to help me join,” she said.
“I only joined to get airtime—now see what Uganda Breweries has rewarded me with, life-changing money. I’ve always enjoyed Uganda Waragi, but I never imagined I would win such a big amount.”
In addition to Kyokusiima, other winners were also celebrated at the event. Kavuma Matthews took home UGX 2.5 million, and Buyondo Douglas won UGX 500,000, marking the success of UBL’s promotion aimed at rewarding loyal customers.
Speaking at the grand prize handover, UBL’s Brand Manager for Mainstream Spirits, Hillary Baguma, highlighted the campaign’s purpose and the company’s dedication to its consumers.
“The goal of the Laga Swagga promotion has been to celebrate and give back to our loyal consumers,” Baguma said. “We are thrilled with the overwhelming response and the opportunity to engage meaningfully with our customers.”
The campaign has driven interest in UBL’s spirits brands, particularly Uganda Waragi, Coconut, Lemon, Ginger, Bond 7, and Gilbeys.
According to Francis Nyende, UBL’s Marketing Manager for Mainstream Spirits, the success of Laga Swagga is a testament to UBL’s commitment to celebrating its consumers.
