Moses Rutahigwa has been appointed as the Retail and Business Banking Director at Absa Bank Uganda, effective May 2, 2025.
He transitions from Standard Chartered Bank Botswana, where he served as Head of Wealth and Retail Banking.
With 17 years of experience in the banking sector, Rutahigwa’s expertise encompasses sales and business development, digitization, change management, channel optimization, and business model transformation.
Rutahigwa’s career began in 2006 as a bank teller at Barclays Bank Uganda (now Absa), marking a return to his professional roots with this new role.
His progression through various positions, including Head of Consumer, Private and Business Banking, Head of Client Acquisition, and Head of Strategic Transformation, highlights his leadership in strategic transformation and client acquisition.
David Wandera, Interim Managing Director at Absa Bank Uganda, expressed confidence in Rutahigwa’s appointment, stating that his proven track record in delivering growth and transforming business operations will be instrumental in enhancing the bank’s retail and business banking offerings.
