President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have officially launched the logo, jersey, and media platforms for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) during a high-profile event at Kololo Independence Grounds.
President Museveni emphasized that CHAN 2024 represents more than just a sporting event. “This tournament symbolises much more than just sport; it is a powerful vehicle for enhancing our global image and creating business opportunities,” he said.
Uganda will co-host CHAN 2024 alongside Kenya and Tanzania in what is being hailed as a landmark step towards regional integration and unity. The East African trio’s joint hosting bid marks the first time the tournament is being shared across three nations in the region.

Highlighting Uganda’s progress under his leadership, Museveni pointed to improved peace, expanded education, and ongoing investment in sports infrastructure. “Now, stadiums are being built, and sport has been boosted. I am pleased with our readiness to host the tournament,” he noted.
The President commended CHAN for acting as a catalyst for development and national preparedness. “CHAN has challenged us in a positive way to act, and we embrace this pressure,” he added.
The First Lady, who also serves as Minister of Education and Sports, echoed the importance of using CHAN as a platform to showcase Uganda’s potential and foster regional solidarity.
With the official branding now unveiled, Uganda enters the final phase of preparation to welcome Africa’s best locally-based football talent in 2024.
