Centenary Bank has reinforced its standing as one of Uganda’s most innovative digital-first financial institutions after securing four top accolades at the Digital Impact Awards Africa (DIAA) 2025.
The recognition, among the continent’s most respected markers of digital excellence, is indicative of the bank’s rapid evolution into a technology-driven financial services leader.
The bank clinched gold awards in three highly competitive categories—Digital Brand of the Year, Digital Banking Excellence, and Banking Innovation Excellence—while also earning a prestigious diamond award for Community/MFI Banking Excellence.
The sweep reflects Centenary Bank’s sustained investment in digital transformation, its push toward customer-centric innovation, and its long-standing commitment to expanding financial inclusion through technology.
Micheal Bulyerali, the Bank’s Manager of Digital Marketing and Communications, said the awards validate years of strategic digital investment.
“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of our commitment to delivering simple, secure, and transformative digital banking solutions,” he noted.
“We have focused on reimagining how our customers interact with the bank—whether through mobile, agent banking, or online platforms like Internet Banking. These awards demonstrate that our digital strategy is empowering millions of Ugandans every day.”
Centenary Bank has significantly expanded its digital footprint, rolling out channels such as the CenteMobile App, Internet Banking, and a nationwide network of CenteAgents. The bank recently partnered with Interswitch to introduce the Quickteller Agent Service, a move aimed at deepening financial inclusion by enabling communities—especially in rural areas—to access more convenient digital and agent banking services.
Beatrice Lugalambi, General Manager Corporate Communications and Marketing, attributed the bank’s success to customer trust and collaborative innovation.
“Winning four awards at the Digital Impact Awards Africa is both humbling and inspiring. It speaks to the trust our customers place in us and the dedication of our team,” she said.
“It also aligns perfectly with our mission to be the preferred provider of innovative financial solutions, especially in microfinance. These awards belong to the people we serve.”
With over 3 million customers and a growing digital ecosystem, Centenary Bank says it will continue prioritizing innovation, enhancing digital security, and developing products tailored to Uganda’s evolving financial needs.
The bank’s leadership affirmed that its next phase of growth will focus on accelerating financial inclusion and maintaining its edge in digital banking.
