Emirates has restored 96% of its global flight network, signalling a near-complete recovery from recent disruptions and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a critical hub for international travel.
The airline now operates flights to 137 destinations across 72 countries, with more than 1,300 weekly departures, representing about 75% of its pre-disruption capacity. The rapid recovery underscores strong global travel demand and the airline’s operational resilience.
For Uganda, the development strengthens connectivity, with Emirates maintaining five weekly flights between Dubai and Entebbe, a key route for business travellers, exporters and the diaspora.
Strong Demand Drives Recovery
Even during the disruption period, Emirates carried 4.7 million passengers between March and April, highlighting sustained traveller confidence and demand for long-haul connectivity.
The airline has progressively resumed services across major global regions, including Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia-Pacific, restoring critical air links that support tourism, trade and investment flows.
What the Recovery Means For Travellers
As operations rebound, Emirates is doubling down on its premium travel proposition.
Passengers can expect its signature onboard experience, anchored on comfort and service. This includes multi-course meals designed by international chefs and access to the airline’s “ice” entertainment system, which offers more than 6,500 channels in nearly 40 languages.
Connectivity is also improving, with high-speed internet rolling out across the fleet. Emirates has already deployed Starlink Wi-Fi on 28 aircraft, enabling faster and more reliable in-flight connectivity.
Flexible Travel and Loyalty Incentives
To stimulate bookings and rebuild traveller confidence, Emirates has introduced a range of customer-focused incentives:
- Flexible bookings: Passengers can change travel dates once at no extra cost, with an option to hold fares for 24 hours
- Dubai Connect stopovers: Travellers with long layovers (6–26 hours) can access complimentary hotel stays, transfers and meals
- Skywards rewards: Loyalty members will benefit from reduced tier requirements and bonus miles between May and August 2026
These measures are designed to reduce uncertainty and encourage more passengers to resume international travel.
Dubai Reasserts Global Aviation Role
The near-full restoration of Emirates’ network is also a major boost for Dubai, which continues to position itself as a central gateway linking Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.
For Uganda and the wider East African region, improved connectivity is expected to support trade, tourism recovery and business travel, particularly as global mobility rebounds.

Travellers departing from Entebbe can check schedules and book flights directly via Emirates’ official website.
