Dfcu Bank has been formally recognised by Rotary Uganda as a key corporate partner for its role in driving structured, impact-led community development programs across the country.
The accolade was announced during a Rotary Uganda appreciation breakfast in Kampala, which gathered Rotary District leadership, corporate partners, and development stakeholders to evaluate a year of collaborative, high-impact community interventions.
For dfcu Bank, the recognition marks a broader institutional transition away from traditional, ad-hoc corporate social responsibility (CSR) toward deeply integrated, outcome-driven environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks.
Jimmy D. Mugerwa, Chairman of the Board of Directors at dfcu Limited, emphasised that corporate resource allocation is increasingly demanding rigorous accountability, performance tracking, and long-term program design.
Mugerwa cited Rotary’s robust governance structures and volunteer-driven implementation model as critical mechanisms for ensuring that corporate capital translates into measurable, tangible community benefits.
The cornerstone of the partnership is a nationwide healthcare initiative that evolved from a staff-led campaign during dfcu Bank’s 60th anniversary in 2024.
Helena Mayanja, dfcu’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, noted that initial medical outreach camps under the program provided essential healthcare services to more than 22,000 individuals across underserved Ugandan communities in late 2025.
The initiative has since scaled into a highly specialised, three-year development framework. Moving beyond basic primary care, the partnership now finances advanced, life-saving medical interventions, including paediatric cardiac surgeries.
Rotary District 9213 Governor Geoffrey Martin Kitakule commended the bank’s long-term commitment, noting that such structured corporate alliances are vital for strengthening weak service delivery chains and scaling public health interventions across the region.
Beyond the flagship healthcare portfolio, dfcu’s ongoing collaboration with Rotary extends into environmental conservation, education, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure projects nationwide.
