Uganda Martyrs University has introduced a new Short Course on Chaplaincy and pastoral Care aimed at Empowering chaplains in Uganda with essential knowledge, values and skills to enhance their work on spiritual and pastoral care.
The training has so far attracted 70 chaplains in Uganda serving in several institutions, with no discrimination on whether Anglicans, Muslims, orthodox and other religious faiths.
Dr. Patrick Kyamanywa the Vice Chancellor of Uganda Martyrs University says Chaplains play a pivotal role in providing crucial spiritual and emotional support to the society.
Dr. Patrick Kyamanywa says the course that is intended to be rolled out across the east African region will equip chaplains with essential knowledge, values, skills and tools relevant for enhancing their spiritual and pastoral care roles; recognizing the evolving challenges and needs of the contemporary world.
The event has been officiated by the newly appointed Archbishop of Gulu Diocese who also Doubles as the Chairperson of Council Uganda Martyrs University Rt. Rev. Rapheal p’Mony Wokorach at the University’s Main Campus in Nkozi.
