The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has officially launched the display and verification of its membership register across all villages nationwide. The exercise, which commenced today, is part of the party’s efforts to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process for its primary elections.
Last month, the NRM secretariat announced the digitization of its membership register, which now boasts over 18 million members. This milestone marks a significant step towards streamlining party operations and enhancing grassroots participation.

Presiding over the launch in the Eastern Region, NRM Vice Chairperson Capt. Mike Mukula urged all party members to verify their details with the designated village registrars starting Wednesday, January 29. He emphasized the importance of accuracy in the membership records to avoid disenfranchisement during the upcoming structure and primary elections.
“The register is very vital in ensuring transparent and credible primary elections of flag bearers and building a strong party up to the grassroots,” Hon. Mukula said during the event.

The exercise is expected to bolster confidence in the party’s internal electoral process by ensuring that every registered member is accounted for. Capt. Mukula also highlighted the party’s commitment to inclusivity and integrity as key pillars of its operations.
Party members have been encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to confirm and update their details. The exercise is seen as a crucial step in preparing the NRM for its next electoral cycle and strengthening its grassroots structures.
With the digitization of its membership database and the ongoing verification exercise, the NRM aims to set a precedent for other political organizations in embracing modern and transparent systems.
