Police in Mayuge District, Eastern Uganda, are on the hunt for three unidentified gunmen dressed in military uniform who allegedly broke into a resident’s home at night and robbed her of Shs4,500 and a mobile phone.
According to local authorities, the armed suspects forcefully entered the woman’s house under the cover of darkness. The victim, whose identity has been withheld for security reasons, reported that the assailants threatened her before making away with her money and phone.
Residents have expressed concern over the growing insecurity in the area, with some fearing that criminals might be using military disguises to carry out robberies. “We are living in fear because we don’t know who to trust anymore,” said a local resident.
Mayuge District Police Commander confirmed that investigations are underway and urged the public to remain vigilant. “We are following leads to apprehend the suspects. We encourage anyone with useful information to report to the nearest police station,” he stated.
Authorities have increased night patrols to curb crime and reassure the public of their safety. Meanwhile, police have appealed to residents to avoid keeping valuables at home and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
