In Uganda, jazz has found a welcoming and fertile environment. The synergy between Ugandan musical traditions and jazz’s improvisational nature has given rise to a dynamic and evolving sound—one that honours Uganda’s musical heritage while embracing contemporary artistic expressions.
As Uganda’s creative economy continues to expand, jazz is increasingly being recognized not only as a form of artistic expression but also as a cultural and economic catalyst.
The “Dfcu Jazz in the Pearl” festival exemplifies this movement.
