President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Maama Janet Museveni today hosted the 3rd African Regional Inter-Parliamentary Conference at State House Entebbe, under the theme “Towards an African Charter on Family Values and Sovereignty.”
The high-level gathering brought together lawmakers from across the continent to address pressing global challenges and affirm Africa’s commitment to preserving traditional values.

Speaker of Parliament Anitah Among was among the key dignitaries in attendance.
In his address, President Museveni urged African leaders to firmly resist foreign ideologies that undermine the foundation of African families.
“We must safeguard our cultural identity and moral foundations,” he emphasized. “This resistance must be paired with a determined pursuit of economic and political integration to secure Africa’s future.”

The conference, which aims to foster unity and shared purpose among African nations, also serves as a platform to discuss strategies for regional collaboration in confronting emerging global pressures.
Delegates welcomed the call for an African Charter on Family Values, which is expected to strengthen the continent’s resolve in defending its sovereignty and nurturing a future rooted in African identity.
The conference will continue with breakout sessions and policy discussions over the next two days.
