In a tightly contested National Resistance Movement (NRM) party election held today, Hon. Kabakumba Masiko emerged victorious as the new NRM District Chairperson, defeating her rival Karuhunga John with 410 votes against 240.
Kabakumba, who is also eyeing the Woman Member of Parliament seat for Masindi District, pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the district benefits more from the NRM government.
In other results, Kassimu Kabagonza was elected Vice Chairperson with a commanding lead of 405 votes over Byamukama France, who managed just 30 votes. Kabagonza was officially declared the new Vice Chairperson of the NRM in Masindi.
The position of General Secretary was contested by three candidates. Tunira Brian emerged as the winner with 315 votes, surpassing Byatima Wilson with 35 votes and Kirya Moses with 29 votes.
For the post of Publicity Secretary, Babyese Waide secured 207 votes, defeating Byaruhunga Cosmas who garnered 90 votes.
In the race for Youth Chairperson, Kobusinga Stella triumphed with 72 votes, ahead of Byaruhunga Simon who received 8 votes.
Speaking after her victory, Hon. Kabakumba thanked the voters for their trust and vowed to intensify lobbying efforts to bring more development to the district.
She also called on the public to rally behind her in the upcoming NRM primaries for Woman MP, Masindi District, promising to be a strong advocate for the district at the national level.
