CNOOC Uganda Limited, in partnership with the Chinese Medical Team, has successfully held a medical camp at Buhuka Health Centre III under the theme “Health and Wellness for a Better Future.” The initiative reaffirms the company’s commitment to improving healthcare access in host communities.
The 2025 camp brought together over 25 medical doctors and specialists to offer free services focused on early diagnosis, disease prevention, and treatment of both infectious and non-communicable diseases.
Among the conditions addressed were malaria, typhoid, syphilis, hepatitis B, HIV, hypertension, diabetes, and ulcers. Particular emphasis was placed on early screening for congenital heart diseases, ensuring critical cases were identified and treated promptly.

Maternal and child health services were prioritized, and health education was broadcast in local languages, covering diseases such as Mpox, cholera, and malaria. The health team issued practical guidelines to reduce the spread of infections and promote community wellness.
To support continued service delivery, CNOOC Uganda and the Chinese Medical Team donated essential medical equipment, including hospital beds, diagnostic tools, BP machines, fetoscopes, and weighing scales to Buhuka Health Centre III.
Mr. Hu Weijie, Vice President of CNOOC Uganda Limited, lauded the partnership’s impact: “This medical camp reflects our continued commitment to the well-being of Ugandan communities and the deepening of China-Uganda relations.”
Kikuube District Vice Chairperson Hon. Opio Vincent Alpher praised the initiative, saying, “CNOOC’s support has not only improved healthcare but also strengthened bilateral ties.”
Mr. Fan Xuecheng, Minister Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy, echoed China’s dedication to Uganda’s development under the Belt and Road Initiative and the FOCAC Nine Programs.
Community members expressed gratitude, with beneficiaries highlighting the free, specialist care and life-saving education. Beyond health, CNOOC Uganda’s programs span scholarships, youth training, sports, and aid—impacting thousands across Uganda.
Through sustained outreach and social investment, CNOOC Uganda continues to be a reliable partner in the socio-economic transformation of Ugandan communities.
