Kampala Woman MP and National Unity Platform (NUP) lawyer Shamim Malende has paid an emotional tribute to her late father, Jamal Ahmed Sebuta Malende, during a visit to his burial site in Butakoola Village.
The visit marked her first time at the graveside since his passing, which occurred while she was hospitalized at Aga Khan Hospital in Kenya.
“Today we are here in Butakoola to pay our last respects to my fallen father,” Malende said, her voice tinged with emotion. “I’m very happy and grateful to all those who attended the burial ceremony led by our President Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu and other NUP top officials.”
Malende extended heartfelt appreciation to the religious and cultural leaders who participated in the burial, including the Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Lunanoba, Owek.Mbuga Nakibinge, and the Katikiro of the Mamba clan. She also praised fellow political leaders, grassroots supporters, and the residents of Butakoola for turning up in large numbers to honor her father.

“May God reward them abundantly, and may my father’s soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.
Transitioning from personal loss to politics, Malende reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to the NUP cause. She confirmed that her team had followed the required procedures to submit credentials to the party through former political prisoners and by email on June 2, 2025.
“We are going to emerge winners because the revolution is still on,” Malende declared. “We have a lot of value to add to the struggle, and we urge everyone to participate in any way they can.”
She emphasized the importance of placing the best candidates in positions where they can deliver tangible results, signaling readiness for the political challenges ahead.
