Kamuli District NRM leaders and supporters have appealed to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, to facilitate the construction of a party office in the district.
The call was made on Sunday as a section of Busoga region NRM delegates endorsed Among’s bid for the position of Central Executive Committee (CEC) Second Vice Chairperson – Women. The endorsement took place during a meeting in Buyende District, where the Speaker met with local leaders to discuss party strengthening and government service delivery.
Speaking at the event, the leaders noted that the absence of a central NRM office in Kamuli was hindering the party’s operations and mobilization efforts. They argued that a permanent office would provide a base for coordination, record-keeping, and community engagement.
Among, who is also Bukedea District Woman MP, urged the leaders to prioritize unity, grassroots mobilization, and vigilant oversight of government programs to ensure they meet the needs of the people. She emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in implementing development projects.
The meeting in Buyende was part of a series of engagements Among is conducting across the Busoga region to consolidate support ahead of the NRM’s internal elections. Her bid for the CEC position has so far received backing from several districts, with supporters citing her strong leadership record and commitment to women’s empowerment.
The NRM’s Central Executive Committee elections are expected later this year, with heightened interest among party members in key leadership positions.
