The roar of engines, clouds of dust, and electrifying speed filled the hills of Fort Portal this past weekend as the UMC Fort Portal Rally 2025 once again proved its place as a flagship event on Uganda’s motorsport calendar.
Thousands of fans lined the routes to witness the fierce competition, and among the standout performances was that of KCB Bank’s rally duo, Mike Mukula Jr and his co-driver, Kiyinchi Edward.
The pair delivered a commanding performance, clinching 1st place in Division 1 4WD and an impressive 3rd place overall, a result that drew admiration from motorsport enthusiasts across the country.
Their finish was a testament to resilience, skill, and seamless teamwork that endured through the rally’s punishing terrain and unforgiving stretches.
Reflecting on the achievement, Mukula Jr described the podium moment as the reward for months of relentless preparation and trust in his team.
“Standing on the podium today is the peak of months of tireless preparation, solid trust in my co-driver, and the relentless dedication of our entire team,” Mukula said.
“Every twist, turn, and challenge tested our limits, but persistence, teamwork, and belief in each other turned ambition into triumph. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support from KCB Bank.”
Beyond the thrill of sport, the rally also highlighted KCB Bank’s growing investment in nurturing local talent and promoting inclusivity through motorsport.

Sheila Awori, Acting Head of Marketing and Communications at KCB Bank Uganda, praised the duo’s success as a reflection of the bank’s values.
“Our partnership with athletes like Mike and Edward brings our brand promise, For People. For Better, to life. Watching them excel on the track is a powerful reminder of why supporting talent and creating opportunities for growth matter,” Awori said.
The UMC Fort Portal Rally 2025 was more than a sporting milestone for Mukula and Kiyinchi—it was a celebration of determination meeting opportunity.
As their car sped across the finish line to thunderous cheers, the victory resonated far beyond the track, inspiring fans and reaffirming the power of resilience and teamwork in driving success.
