The Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom (BKK) Prime Minister, Owek. Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi, on Sunday visited Kagadi District where he inspected a model household farm under the Kingdom’s Eka Ekwesimisa (Desired Household) program and later toured land designated for a new coffee demonstration garden.
Accompanied by Kagadi District Chairperson Hon. Yosiya Ndibwami, Buyaga West County Chief Owek. Byamukama, BKK Production Officer Omuny. Atuha Moses, and other leaders, the Prime Minister visited the home of Owek. Kisembo Goodyear in Kiteema Village, one of the pioneer beneficiaries of the program launched in 2021.

The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Goodyear and his family before being taken on a guided tour of the farm, which now boasts coffee and banana plantations, a training center, a biogas plant, animal husbandry projects, and a new family house.
Commending Mr. Goodyear for transforming his homestead into a model of stability and productivity, Owek. Byakutaga said the initiative reflects the Kingdom’s vision of empowering families to be self-sufficient and prosperous.
“Four years after launching this program, it is encouraging to see such remarkable transformation. This homestead reflects the vision of Eka Ekwesimisa—empowering families to be self-sufficient, prosperous, and exemplary for others to emulate,” he said.

He urged leaders across Bunyoro-Kitara to “sound the drums of development” and mobilize communities to embrace sustainable livelihoods.
Mr. Goodyear expressed gratitude to the Kingdom for its support, noting that the program has enabled his family to expand and diversify their income sources.
Kagadi District Chairperson Ndibwami applauded the Prime Minister’s hands-on leadership, pledging to scale up the Eka Ekwesimisa model across the district.
Later, the Prime Minister proceeded to Isunga Sub-county headquarters to inspect 31 acres of land earmarked for a two-acre coffee demonstration garden and nursery bed. The project is expected to provide free seedlings and hands-on training to farmers in Buyaga West.
Owek. Byakutaga stressed that every household in Bunyoro-Kitara should embrace coffee farming as a reliable path to improved incomes.
Isunga LCIII Chairperson Hon. Geoffrey thanked the Kingdom for selecting their sub-county to host the initiative, saying it would inspire local farmers to adopt modern farming practices.
