dfcu Bank has expanded its footprint in Western Uganda with the grand opening of its 55th branch in Fort Portal Tourism City, marking a significant step in its strategy to deepen financial inclusion and fuel regional economic growth.
Strategically located along Babiiha Road, the new branch will serve communities across the Tooro Sub-region — including Kabarole, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge, Bunyangabu, and Kasese.
It will offer a full range of financial services to individuals, entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a strong focus on credit access, agribusiness, tourism, and trade.
“For more than 60 years, dfcu Bank has been a partner in transforming lives and businesses across Uganda,” said Kate Kiiza, Executive Director of dfcu Bank.
“The launch of our Fort Portal branch is a bold step in accelerating growth in this region, which is rich with opportunities in agriculture, tourism, oil, and trade. Beyond financial solutions, we are creating employment opportunities, supporting SMEs, and enabling communities to thrive.”
Fort Portal City Chairman Richard Rwabuhinga welcomed the investment, describing it as a boost to the city’s emergence as an economic hub.

“This branch positions Fort Portal as a rising economic hub. With services ranging from savings and SME loans to agent banking, dfcu Bank is empowering traders, farmers, tourism operators, and families,” he said.
The bank is also introducing enhanced digital channels to the region, including internet and mobile banking, alongside its nationwide network of more than 20,000 agent banking outlets.
In addition, dfcu Bank plans to deliver entrepreneurial training, financial literacy programs, and mentorship opportunities, with special emphasis on women through its Women in Business Program.
With this expansion, dfcu Bank reaffirms its long-term commitment to driving inclusive growth across Uganda’s regions.
