Makerere University has appointed Eunice Rukundo as Deputy Chief of Public Relations, a move aimed at strengthening the institution’s communications and brand visibility.
Rukundo, a seasoned journalist and communications expert, brings over a decade of experience spanning media, consultancy, and institutional communication. She previously worked with the Nation Media Group, the African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME), and the Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE).
She holds a Master’s in Digital Media, Culture and Education from the University of London, a Master’s in International Relations from Liverpool John Moores University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Uganda Management Institute.
She is also a Makerere alumna, with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, and a certified media viability consultant.
Makerere officials said her appointment underscores the university’s renewed commitment to professional public relations and stakeholder engagement. Her role will include managing media relations, digital communications, internal messaging, and promoting Makerere’s research and innovation agenda.
The appointment comes as Uganda’s oldest university steps up efforts to modernize its image, expand partnerships, and strengthen its international reputation.
