KCB Bank Uganda, in partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), has officially flagged off national rally champion Oscar Ntambi and his co-driver Asuman Muhammed ahead of the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally in Kenya.
The ceremony, held at the FMU headquarters in Lugogo, also unveiled fellow Ugandan drivers Duncan Mubiru, Yasin Nasser and Timothy Gawaya, signaling a stronger national presence at this year’s global motorsport showpiece scheduled for March 12–15 in Naivasha.
The flag-off follows KCB Group’s sponsorship commitment of up to KShs 227 million towards regional motorsport development, aimed at equipping local drivers with the technical and financial backing required to compete at the highest level. FMU further reinforced national support with an additional UGX 40 million to facilitate travel, accommodation and logistical preparations for the Ugandan contingent.
Speaking at the event, KCB Bank Uganda’s Brand Experience Manager, Zainab Kalyowa, said Ntambi’s journey from local champion to WRC contender reflects the bank’s commitment to nurturing excellence. She noted that KCB continues to invest in sport as a platform to unite and inspire, supporting disciplines ranging from motorsport to rugby, volleyball and golf.
Ntambi, who will pilot a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Ralliart, expressed gratitude for the backing, describing his WRC debut as both a personal milestone and a chance to represent Uganda on the world stage.
The Safari Rally will cover 350.02 competitive kilometres and 842.9 liaison kilometres across Naivasha’s rugged terrain. Ntambi is set to compete alongside global rally icons including Sebastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville.
KCB Bank has also launched a customer campaign offering VIP tickets to the rally for clients transacting via its mobile banking platforms, rallying Ugandans to support their drivers as they take on one of motorsport’s toughest events.
