Centenary Bank has committed UGX 280 million to support this year’s Rotary District Conferences and the Rotary Africa Zone Conference, in a move aimed at strengthening community-focused initiatives and partnerships.
The contribution will see UGX 100 million allocated to each of the Rotary Uganda districts, while UGX 80 million will support the continental Rotary Africa Zone Conference. The funding is expected to facilitate conference activities, deepen collaboration among stakeholders and enhance Rotary’s capacity to deliver impactful community programmes.
Speaking at the launch, Centenary Bank Managing Director Fabian Kasi said the bank’s support reflects a long-standing partnership with Rotary Uganda, built on shared values of service and community transformation.
Kasi noted that since 2011, the bank has contributed over UGX 5 billion towards Rotary initiatives, with a strong focus on cancer awareness and treatment.
Joint efforts have supported the establishment of the Rotary-Centenary Bank Cancer Ward, nationwide cancer awareness campaigns, and the annual Rotary Cancer Run, which the bank has sponsored for 13 years.
He added that the partnership has also extended to other sectors including youth empowerment, education, environmental conservation, blood donation drives and financial literacy programmes.
“We remain committed to building healthier, more empowered and sustainable communities through partnerships such as Rotary,” Kasi said, adding that the bank has dedicated 1.5 percent of its previous year’s profits to corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Rotary District 9213 Governor Geoffrey Martin Kitakule welcomed the contribution, saying it will boost the success of the upcoming conferences and expand Rotary’s outreach.
The District 9213 Conference will be held from April 15 to 18 at Protea Hotel Entebbe, while District 9214 will convene from April 23 to 25 at Speke Resort Munyonyo. The Rotary Africa Zone Conference is scheduled for September 29 to October 3 at the same venue.
