President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on the Banyoro community to put an end to internal conflicts and focus on creating personal wealth to improve their livelihoods.
The President made the remarks while addressing participants at the annual national youth conference organized by Hoima Catholic Diocese.
The event, held at St. Andrea Kaahwa’s College Bujumbura in Hoima City, concluded a week-long program aimed at empowering youth spiritually, ideologically, and economically.
Speaking at the conference yesterday, Museveni pledged UGX 200 million towards the diocese’s youth center, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in complementing government efforts to fight poverty.
“I commend the Catholic Church for its role in mentoring young people in ideology and spirituality, as well as supporting the government in addressing poverty in the country,” Museveni stated.
Bishop Vincent Kirabo of Hoima Catholic Diocese lauded President Museveni for his consistent support to the Church and the youth programs. He also took the opportunity to seek government assistance for the diocese’s ongoing project to construct a specialized hospital for women and children in Hoima City.
Masindi District Chairperson Cosmas Byaruhanga, who attended the conference, praised the diocese for organizing the program.
“This initiative has empowered the youth spiritually and economically, which is essential for their growth and development,” Byaruhanga said.
The conference brought together youth from across the country, offering a platform to discuss development issues and share ideas to improve their communities.
Museveni’s pledge and call to unity resonated strongly, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting grassroots development initiatives.
