Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende has revealed she is still under medical review following chest pains and complications with a surgical wound.
The MP, who sustained injuries during an altercation in Parliament, shared that her condition stemmed from being forcibly removed from the chamber by the Special Forces Command (SFC).
“I am back for a medical review after I was injured when SFC dragged me out of Parliament,” Malende disclosed. She expressed concern over her ongoing health challenges, emphasizing the need for continued medical care.
While hospitalized, Malende also received the heartbreaking news of the death of Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya. In a statement, she expressed her condolences to his family, friends, and constituents.
“The news of the death of Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad found me in hospital. I condole with the friends, family, and people of Kawempe North,” Malende said.
The MP’s ordeal highlights the physical toll political conflicts can have on leaders and underscores the ongoing tension surrounding parliamentary proceedings in Uganda.
