President Yoweri Museveni officiated the swearing-in ceremony of 21 new High Court Judges, urging them to uphold justice with fairness and efficiency.

Speaking at the event, Museveni emphasized two key principles: Obuteeka (calmness) to prevent anger from injustice and Oburinganiza (fairness) to ensure wronged individuals receive justice. He discouraged unnecessary delays in court proceedings, criticizing excessive legal jargon.
“I hear you people wasting time in court; objection, my lord, bla bla bla. We should not waste time but listen to the truth and dispense justice swiftly,” Museveni remarked.

The President also reassured judges of increased judicial funding, stating, “Budgets will increase; it’s just a question of when, not whether.”
The newly sworn-in judges pledged commitment to upholding the law. The ceremony marked another step in Uganda’s efforts to strengthen its judicial system.
