dfcu Bank has named Marsha Nyonyozi Walusimbi as its new Chief of People and Culture Transformation, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to people-centered growth and workplace innovation across Uganda’s financial sector.
With nearly two decades of experience in human capital strategy, Walusimbi brings a deep background in talent development, culture transformation, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Her appointment is seen as a strategic step in dfcu’s broader mission to align its organizational culture with global best practices while remaining grounded in local operational realities.
Prior to joining dfcu Bank, Walusimbi held multiple senior leadership roles at American Tower Corporation (ATC), including HR Lead for ATC Nigeria, Head of Talent and DEI for ATC Africa, and Head of HR for ATC Uganda. Her earlier career includes stints at Monitor Publications and Airtel Uganda, where she played key roles in leadership development and employee engagement.
In a statement, dfcu Bank CEO Charles Mudiwa said, “Marsha brings with her a wealth of experience in building empowered, high-performing workplaces that are inclusive and forward-looking. Her deep appreciation of both global people strategies and local organizational realities positions her perfectly to drive our transformation agenda.”
Walusimbi is widely recognized for her work in mentorship, coaching, and nurturing future leadership pipelines across industries. Her initiatives have led to meaningful improvements in organizational culture and employee satisfaction in highly competitive sectors.
Academically, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Organizational Development from the Uganda Management Institute, and is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She is also an alumna of the INSEAD Developing Emerging Leaders Program.
Her appointment comes at a time when dfcu Bank is actively pursuing internal transformation, with a renewed focus on aligning its corporate purpose with employee engagement and customer experience. As Chief of People and Culture Transformation, Walusimbi will be instrumental in leading change across the bank’s human capital structure, designing inclusive policies, and embedding a performance-driven culture.
This move positions dfcu Bank to better compete in an evolving African banking landscape where talent retention, digital agility, and purpose-led leadership are increasingly critical for long-term success.
