Security agencies have successfully recovered six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, who was allegedly kidnapped last week by a domestic worker.
The child, reported missing on 12 December 2025, was found in Busukuma, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District, at around 9:30 a.m. on 19 December.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Mucunguzi David, employed as a shamba boy by Dr. Tumwesigye Emmanuel, took the young Mpirwe from their home in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, Kampala District, at approximately 4:00 p.m. on 12 December. The child did not return, prompting immediate concern from the family.
A case of kidnapping was promptly reported to the Universal Police Post, triggering extensive search operations. Authorities leveraged modern investigative tools, including analysis of the suspect’s social media presence, particularly TikTok videos, which ultimately led to the tracing and recovery of the child.
Law enforcement sources confirm that Mpirwe is now safe and under medical observation to ensure his well-being before being reunited with his parents. “The child will undergo a medical examination and counseling before being handed back to his family,” said Racheal Wamala ,the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
Efforts to apprehend the suspect, Mucunguzi David, are ongoing. Security agencies have assured the public that they are committed to bringing him to justice and preventing similar incidents.
The successful rescue highlights the growing role of digital footprints and social media in aiding criminal investigations. It also serves as a reminder for parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety of children, particularly in domestic arrangements.
The community has welcomed the recovery of Mpirwe, emphasizing the importance of swift action and coordination between families and law enforcement to safeguard vulnerable children.
