KCB Bank Uganda has announced its title sponsorship of the National Rally Championship, a move set to elevate motorsport in the country and strengthen the bank’s commitment to community development through sports.
The announcement, made at KCB Bank Uganda’s headquarters in Kampala, was attended by officials from the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), rally drivers, and motorsport enthusiasts. Under the new partnership, the championship will now be branded the KCB–Pearl of Africa Rally Championship, scheduled for 9–11 May 2026 in Mbale.
Since 2007, KCB Bank Uganda has supported the FMU and the rally series, gradually growing its involvement. The latest development marks a shift from sponsorship to full title ownership, positioning the bank as a key driver of motorsport in Uganda.
Edgar Byamah, Managing Director of KCB Bank Uganda, said the partnership reflects the bank’s values of performance, reliability, and community empowerment.

“Motorsport embodies resilience, precision, and determination—qualities that mirror how we operate as a bank. By taking on the title sponsorship of the National Rally Championship Series, we are supporting local talent, national pride, and platforms that inspire progress. Just as rally drivers rely on performance to navigate tough terrain, our customers rely on KCB Bank for solutions that move them forward,” he said.
FMU representatives welcomed the strengthened collaboration, highlighting its impact on the growth of motorsport and youth development in Uganda. The federation emphasized that the partnership will help build a competitive motorsport ecosystem and raise the profile of Ugandan drivers on the continental and global stage.
The announcement follows the international success of KCB-sponsored driver Oscar Ntambi, who recently finished fifth in the African Rally Championship standings and 22nd globally in his World Rally Championship debut. Ntambi praised KCB Bank for supporting local talent and boosting the visibility of Ugandan motorsport.
“Motorsport demands discipline and innovation. KCB’s backing makes it possible for drivers like me to represent Uganda on the world stage. Their role as title sponsor is a big win for all involved,” he said.
The KCB–National Rally Championship remains one of Africa’s most iconic rally events, attracting top regional drivers and thousands of fans. With KCB Bank Uganda now at the helm, the championship promises greater excitement, innovation, and opportunities for the next generation of Ugandan rally talent, while reinforcing the bank’s commitment to performance and community empowerment.
