dfcu Bank has marked 62 years of operations in Uganda with a nationwide corporate social responsibility campaign focused on community health, financial inclusion and social impact, reinforcing the bank’s long-standing position as one of the country’s key development finance institutions.
Speaking during the launch of the DFCU Humanity Day health camp in Walukuba, Jinja City, dfcu Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, Kate Kiiza said the bank deliberately chose to celebrate its anniversary through service rather than a traditional corporate event.
“We took a conscious decision to celebrate differently. Rather than holding the usual corporate celebrations, we chose to commemorate this milestone through service to communities,” Kiiza said.

She noted that the bank had committed UGX1 billion towards humanity initiatives and community outreach programmes across Uganda in partnership with Rotary Uganda. The initiative will involve 17 medical camps across the country targeting underserved communities.
According to Kiiza, the camps are expected to provide free medical services to more than 2,000 people, including sickle cell screening, cancer testing, diabetes management, eye care, dental services and general medical consultations.
“For 62 years, we have grown alongside Uganda. We have financed enterprises, supported women-led businesses, enabled home ownership, advanced agriculture and promoted financial inclusion. But beyond financial support, sustainability depends on creating impact that goes beyond business,” she said.
District Governor of Rotary District 9213, Geoffrey Martin Kitakule, said the partnership between Rotary, dfcu and the Busoga Kingdom demonstrated the power of collaboration in addressing grassroots community challenges.
“This partnership shows that when institutions unite to do good, communities benefit. Rotary exists to serve humanity, and together with dfcu and the Kingdom, we are helping improve lives in Busoga and beyond,” Kitakule said.
Representing the Busoga Kingdom, the Kingdom’s Second Prime Minister, Osman Ahmed Noor, praised dfcu for aligning corporate success with social responsibility.
“For over six decades, dfcu has transformed lives and businesses across Uganda. Today, the bank is reaffirming that true success is measured not only in profits, but in the lives touched and communities uplifted,” Noor said.
He added that the health outreach directly supports the vision of the Kyabazinga of Busoga to build a healthier and more productive population, while calling for deeper partnerships in youth skilling, women empowerment and agricultural transformation.
The Humanity Day initiative is expected to continue in districts including Abim and Gulu as dfcu expands its health outreach footprint across Uganda.
