The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has achieved significant global recognition, securing two prestigious honours at the 2026 International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Awards.
Acknowledged as the pinnacle of achievement in the communications profession, the awards celebrate excellence, innovation, and measurable impact in global strategic communications.
Afreximbank took home an Award of Excellence in the Special and Experiential Events category for its communications campaign surrounding the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 (IATF2025). Held in Algiers, Algeria, IATF2025 serves as Africa’s premier trade and investment event.
The event brought together governments, businesses, and investors to advance the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The Bank’s targeted communications strategy drove immense global awareness, helping attract over 120,000 in-person and virtual delegates and facilitating deals valued at over US$50 billion.
Additionally, the Bank received an Award of Merit in the Social Media category. This award recognises Afreximbank’s strategic use of digital platforms to elevate conversations on economic integration and investment across Africa and the Caribbean.
Utilizing thought leadership, compelling storytelling, and real-time coverage via the wholly-owned Afreximbank TV, the bank successfully expanded its reach among global policymakers and businesses.
Anne Ezeh, Director & Global Head of Communications and Events at Afreximbank, expressed her delight at the recognition, noting that it reflects the expertise and creativity of the bank’s team.
“As a pan-African multilateral financial institution, we see storytelling as a powerful tool for advancing our mission — ensuring our initiatives, events, programmes and key announcements not only inform, but also inspire confidence, deepen engagement and amplify Africa’s transformation,” Ezeh stated.
She emphasised that the bank remains committed to delivering world-class communications that project an authentic narrative of Africa—one defined by opportunity, innovation, and resilience.
For over 50 years, the IABC Gold Quill Awards have used a rigorous, independent evaluation process judged by international communication leaders to honor outstanding global campaigns, making Afreximbank’s double victory a remarkable feat for the continent.
