Bell Lager has secured a prestigious Gold Quality Award at the 2026 Monde Selection Awards, reinforcing its reputation as one of Uganda’s most enduring consumer brands as it celebrates 75 years since its first brew.
The international recognition comes from the Brussels-based Monde Selection Institute, an independent body that evaluates the quality of consumer products through rigorous laboratory analysis, sensory testing and expert assessments.
Products receiving scores between 80 and 89 percent are awarded Gold status, recognising excellence in taste, consistency and production standards.
For Bell Lager, the accolade underscores a legacy that dates back to 1951, when it became Uganda’s first locally brewed beer. It also highlights the growing ability of Ugandan-manufactured products to compete on the global stage based on internationally recognised quality benchmarks.
Lillian Kansiime, Bell Brand Manager, described the award as a validation of the discipline and craftsmanship that have sustained the brand for generations.
“Winning Gold at Monde Selection again, in our 75th year, is a strong validation of the standards behind Bell Lager. This award proves that Bell’s quality has remained consistent across generations and reflects the discipline, care and craftsmanship that go into every stage of our brewing process,” she said.
Beyond brewing, Bell Lager has built its identity around Uganda’s cultural landscape, supporting music, entertainment and creative industries over several decades.
The brand has backed initiatives including the Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards and Miss Uganda while more recently investing in emerging talent through platforms such as Bell Obafest and Bell Jamz.
Its 75th anniversary celebrations are being held under the “Uganda’s Very Own” campaign, which celebrates the country’s culture, creativity and shared identity.
According to the company, the campaign reflects Bell’s long-standing role in bringing Ugandans together during national celebrations, music festivals and everyday social moments.
“This recognition feels especially meaningful because Bell has always been, and continues to be, Uganda’s Very Own. From everyday moments of connection to milestone celebrations and music experiences, the brand has consistently been present where Ugandans come together,” Kansiime added.
The latest award further strengthens Bell Lager’s international credentials, making it one of the few Ugandan beverages to receive repeated recognition from Monde Selection.
As consumers increasingly demand quality assurance, the recognition positions Bell as a home-grown brand whose brewing standards continue to meet global benchmarks while remaining firmly rooted in Uganda’s heritage.
