The Supreme Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Shaban Galabuzi, has called for integrity and fairness among judicial officers, emphasizing that judges must uphold justice for all citizens regardless of status.
He made the remarks while leading Eid-Al-Adha prayers at Kibuli Mosque during prayers attended by prominent figures including Prince Kassim Nakibinge, Buganda Kingdom officials, and representatives from the central government.
Sheikh Galabuzi strongly condemned instances of injustice within the judiciary, reminding officers of the responsibility placed upon them to serve the nation impartially.
“Judges are expected to be custodians of justice and should not let personal interests or influence undermine the rule of law,” he said.

As Uganda prepares for the upcoming elections, the Supreme Mufti also urged Muslims and all Ugandans to engage fully in the electoral process—from grassroots village councils to national leadership.
He encouraged citizens to ensure their National IDs are renewed in time, describing voter registration as a civic duty critical to shaping the country’s future.
“We must not only pray for a better Uganda but also take part in choosing our leaders through peaceful and active participation,” Sheikh Galabuzi told the congregation.
The message comes at a crucial time as the country readies itself for the 2026 general elections, with national identity renewal and voter registration exercises currently underway.
