Hundreds of runners turned up at Kyambogo University on Saturday for the 2026 KCB Kyambogo Ultra Run, in a vibrant display of endurance, resilience and community spirit, with this year’s edition placing renewed focus on inclusion.
The annual event, held at the university grounds, featured 50km, 25km and 10km race categories, drawing a diverse field of elite athletes, experienced runners and first-time participants. From early morning, the venue buzzed with anticipation as runners embarked on the physically demanding routes, each driven by personal ambition and a shared goal of pushing limits.
Since its inception in 2010, the Kyambogo Ultra Run has grown into one of Uganda’s most recognised endurance events, serving as a key preparation platform for athletes targeting international competitions such as the Comrades, Kilimanjaro, Rwenzori Mountain and Virunga marathons.
Now in its third year of partnership with KCB Bank Uganda, the run has evolved into a platform that blends sport, wellness and community engagement. Speaking at the event, Managing Director Edgar Byamah praised the strong turnout and determination of participants, noting that the initiative promotes active lifestyles and social connection.
The 2026 edition also highlighted support for students with disabilities, with the university’s Disability Centre welcoming the initiative as a meaningful contribution to inclusivity on campus.
Race Director Julius Nkuraija commended the growing participation and partner support, describing the event as an inspiring platform for both athletes and communities.
Participants, in turn, applauded the organisation, citing well-marked routes and a welcoming atmosphere. The event concluded with medal awards, reinforcing its message of resilience and collective achievement.
