PostBank Uganda’s Chief Financial Officer, Peter Ssenyange, emerged as the night’s biggest winner at the 9th Annual CFO Awards, taking home both the CFO of the Year and Sustainability Award titles.
The prestigious event, organized by Deloitte Uganda and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Uganda, was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel under the theme “CFO Vision: Creating Impact and Legacy.” The awards celebrate exceptional financial leaders who drive accountability, innovation, and sustainable growth within Uganda’s corporate sector.
Ssenyange’s recognition comes as a result of his transformative leadership during his five-year tenure at PostBank, which is rebranding to Pearl Bank. Under his stewardship, the Bank’s income rose by 20% to UGX 248 billion, customer deposits grew by 25% to UGX 990 billion, and the loan book expanded by 19% to UGX 719 billion as of 2024.

Speaking after receiving his awards, Ssenyange said, “This win is a culmination of a great team at the bank, support from management, and the strategic plans we’ve laid to create sustainable impact for our staff, customers, and shareholders.”
He emphasized that the awards theme reflects the responsibility of finance leaders to go beyond numbers and build a meaningful legacy within their organizations.
Keynote speaker Patrick Ayota, Managing Director of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), urged CFOs to translate their financial insights into organizational impact. “No other office in an organization sits at the pinnacle like finance. You must be accountable in creating impact because you are sitting on top of all the information and data,” Ayota said.
Assistant Auditor General James Bantu, the event’s Chief Guest, applauded Deloitte and ACCA Uganda for recognizing financial leadership excellence, noting that over eight editions, 45 CFOs have been honored and 65 awards presented across nine categories.
Ssenyange’s double win follows PostBank’s recent Sustainability Certification in Germany, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to sustainable banking and financial inclusion under its five-year strategic plan, aimed at fostering prosperity for Ugandans.
