The Board of Directors of Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has appointed Eng. Richard Matsiko as the Acting Chief Executive Officer.
In an official notice issued Thursday, the company congratulated Eng. Matsiko on his new leadership role, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the national power transmission utility forward.
“Notice! The Board of Directors has appointed Eng. Richard Matsiko as Ag. CEO, UETCL. UETCL congratulates Eng. Matsiko and wishes him success in his new commission,” the statement read.

Eng. Matsiko steps into the role at a critical time for UETCL, which plays a central role in Uganda’s power sector—managing bulk electricity transmission, system operations, and planning infrastructure for national development. His appointment is expected to strengthen ongoing reforms and infrastructure expansion aimed at improving grid stability and power access across the country.
The company did not provide details about the duration of his acting tenure or the circumstances surrounding the leadership change. However, industry observers are keenly watching for the direction the new CEO will take, especially in accelerating key transmission projects and improving operational efficiency.
Eng. Matsiko brings with him extensive experience in the energy sector and is expected to prioritize reliability and transparency within the utility.
