The Joint Security Task Team investigating the murder of Tumwebaze Pamela, the Director of Students Affairs at Uganda Christian University, has arrested a key suspect in connection with the crime.
The suspect, identified as Taewaiko Dak Hussein, was apprehended on Friday, February 14, 2026, at his hideout in Budaka District. Security officials confirmed that he was found in possession of property belonging to the deceased, a development investigators say provides critical evidence linking him to the murder.
According to preliminary findings released by the task team, the suspect is a former house help to the late Pamela. Authorities believe this prior relationship could play a significant role in understanding the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Pamela’s death has sparked concern within the university community and beyond, with students, staff and alumni calling for swift justice. As Director of Students Affairs, she was responsible for overseeing student welfare and administrative matters, making her a prominent figure within the institution.
Security agencies have not yet disclosed the exact circumstances under which the murder occurred, nor have they indicated whether additional suspects are being pursued. However, officials emphasized that investigations remain active and comprehensive.
“The Joint Security Task Team is continuing with inquiries to establish the full facts surrounding this incident. Further updates will be communicated in due course as progress is made,” the statement noted.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the case, coming amid heightened public interest and calls for accountability. Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and allow investigators to complete their work.
Police are expected to arraign the suspect in court once investigations reach an advanced stage and charges are formally preferred.
