Coca-Cola Beverages Africa has admitted more than 60 young professionals into a new leadership development initiative aimed at shaping the next generation of business leaders across the continent.
The cohort joins the company’s Ascend Leaders in Training Programme, an 18-month accelerated scheme running from March 2026 to August 2027.
The programme targets emerging talent from nine African markets, including Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria, offering a structured pathway into leadership roles within one of Africa’s largest consumer goods companies.
Participants, drawn from diverse academic backgrounds such as engineering, finance, marketing and supply chain, will gain hands-on experience across critical business functions.

These include commercial operations, finance, public affairs, communications, sustainability, and human resource management. While based in their home countries, the trainees will also be integrated into a broader pan-African learning network.
For many, the programme offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at a globally recognised brand. South Africa-based trainee Lathitha Madyibi said the opportunity had already begun to demystify the production process behind Coca-Cola products, describing the experience as both exciting and insightful.
Similarly, Ethiopia’s Dawit Yared noted that his early exposure to the company’s operations had revealed the scale and coordination required to keep the business running efficiently, highlighting the collaborative nature of its teams.
The initiative combines rotational assignments, mentorship from senior leaders and exposure to real business challenges. Participants will work on projects designed to drive growth while building professional credibility and leadership readiness.
According to Chief People and Culture Officer Natasa Prodanovic, the programme is structured to help young professionals “learn fast, lead early and make a meaningful impact.”
She added that successful candidates could transition into permanent roles with expanded responsibilities, positioning them for long-term careers within the organisation.
